Our Young Carers

Are you a young carer? Do you look after, help, or support a family member or a friend who has a physical disability, a mental health issue (e.g. depression), a cognitive impairment (e.g. dementia), addiction to substances or any other health related condition?

Are you relied upon for emotional wellbeing support or physical support? Bridgend Carers Wellbeing Service provides help and advice for unpaid carers. Would you like to find out more? Please get in touch, we would be happy to help. Mrs Gill Sullivan is available at Maesteg School as point of call for any queries you have, whether it be about the care and support of someone you know or a an issue involving abuse of any kind (this is called safeguarding.)

Recognised by the Bridgend Carers Centre, Maesteg School has received a ‘Young Carer: Friendly Award’ in recognition of the support provided to our carers. You can email Mrs Sullivan using the link below if you need support. There is also information below provided by Bridgend Carers Wellbeing Service.

Our Margam Day Out

This term we enjoyed a day at Margam Park where we got to experience many outdoor activities including archery and kayaking! Everyone had a wonderful time, enjoying the fresh air and each other’s company. Everybody joined in, including Mrs Sullivan who we convinced to join us on the water!

We are hoping to have more trips out from school next year and look forward to our next adventure.
