Year 11 Maths & Numeracy Revision: Autumn Half-Term
We are incredibly proud of the focus of our Year 11s on their Maths and Numeracy Skills over the last 8 weeks. Exams in these important areas are scheduled for the first week back (Numeracy) and the second week back (Maths) (dates can be found on the November exam document below). We are hopeful that with the right attitude towards revision over the half-term, our students should do well.
Over half-term, revision should include:
- Use of the personalised booklets which Maths colleagues have prepared for each individual student. These will focus students on those ‘red’ areas identified on their updated Smith Proforma. Students should remember the importance of focusing on these.
- Past papers. Although these are new examinations, students should be using the past papers they have been supplied with to brush up their skills. Parents who attended the recent ‘Help Your Child through Year 11’ evening will remember also the excellent resource on the WJEC website which allows students to create their own papers. Once again, this should be used to focus on their red areas. This resource can be found at – Create Your Own Papers
- All students have a log-in for the ‘MyMaths’ resource. This is a subscription website used by approximately 40 million students each year. It provides a fully interactive online learning resource and can be accessed 24/7. This resource can be found at – My Maths
- All students also have a personalised log-in for ‘MathsWatch’. This is a set of mathematics resources (videos and worksheets) available to all Year 11 students. This resource can be found at Maths Watch
- Last but not least, students should make full use of all the notes, tasks and practice tests they have been undertaking throughout the year and certainly in the run up to these exams. There is no better preparation than using the excellent information they have in their exercise books.
We wish our Year 11s all the very best of luck in their forthcoming exams.
