February is upon us, the month where the kooky and spooky Addams Family rock up to Maesteg school for our annual School production. Tickets are selling fast, as anticipation builds for two nights of fright and fun with a double-cast who are currently working hard in rehearsals.
We caught up with the two Uncle Festers’ (Niall Short & Jack Tozer, Year 9) to find out what we can expect from The Addams Family and how they’ve been enjoying the build-up.
Niall, this is your first venture into the world of the school production, how is it all going?
N: I was shocked when I was chosen to play Uncle Fester (Thursday evening.) I am so excited about the show, it’s been fascinating to be a part of rehearsals, I was so intrigued how it would all work when we first started.
How are you feeling about show night, Niall?
N: Well this will be my first time singing in front of an audience! The whole process has brought me out of my shell and I’ve definitely grown in confidence as a result.
That’s brilliant Niall, we can’t wait to hear you on the night. What does The Addams Family have in store for people Jack?
J: The audience can expect an exciting show, the cast has responded well to the humour of the script – I think it’s quite jolly!
We remember you playing Sir Paul McCartney in We Will Rock You Jack, how does Uncle Fester differ from one of The Beetles?
J: Haha, yes they are worlds apart. I have more responsibility this time around as Fester is a bigger role. I am enjoying getting into character very much, Niall & I have laughed a lot: Uncle Fester is awkward yet funny and loveable too. He’s a real crowd pleaser and a joy to play. We just can’t wait to get out there, it’s going to be another great production from Maesteg School!
Thank you guys, we can’t wait to see everyone in costume and be formally introduced to The Addams Family!
