Maesteg School pupils celebrated outstanding successes in today’s A level results, marking yet another year of excellent academic and personal achievements with an overall A*- C pass rate of 77% (2 A Levels or equivalent) with 97% of our pupils achieving 2 A*-E grades. This year, the number of pupils achieving 3 A*-A grades was the highest in the school’s history. Fewer pupils pursued BTEC or equivalent courses this year with the majority of pupils following more traditional A level courses. This meant that there was, even more, pressure on pupils to perform well during the exam season. And they did just that!
Helen Jones, Headteacher said, ‘we are thrilled with the performance of our Sixth form pupils who achieved a total of 59 A*/A grades between them. We are pleased to see so many of our pupils gaining places at some of the country’s top Universities. These results reflect the dedication of our staff, parents, and governors to raise the aspirations of our pupils so that they strive to achieve their very best and compete with the best also. They have made us all extremely proud. ‘
This is a real testament to how students at Maesteg School are prepared to be lifelong learners with the skills required to succeed at Higher Education.
