Dark nights. Frosty mornings. Winter weather. Doesn’t it sound dreary? But you needn’t let those summer days drift away as our talented students will be bringing the hit musical Grease to Maesteg this December. As we begin a busy Christmas term at Maesteg School, our wonderful cast are rehearsing at lunchtimes and after school to polish their performance for December’s show. The clocks may have gone back an hour this weekend, but on December the 13th get ready to set your clocks back to 1950s America where our pupils will don their leather jackets and pink windbreakers and bring the stage to life!
Grease follows the story of teenage sweethearts Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski who experience a short-lived summer romance. When plans change and Sandy finds herself at Rydell High with Danny and his T-bird gang, the pressures of school life make their relationship a little more complicated. Can hotshot Danny win the girl whilst maintaining his tough guy reputation?
Director Shelley Parry is very excited to bring the rock and roll drama to Maesteg. During rehearsals, she commented: “what a talented bunch of actors we are blessed with here at Maesteg Comp. Romance is blossoming, rumours are flying and hearts are breaking over spilled milkshakes. We are thrilled to present our production to you and we are in the throw of a hectic rehearsal schedule but it will all be worthwhile come end of December!”
