Today (16/3/17) our pupils have been taking part in the BBC School Report. Schools up and down the country are invited to become journalists for the day and create a report of their own.
You can view what Maesteg school pupils have been working on here.
School Report links very closely to key competencies in English – reading, writing, speaking and listening are core skills for any journalist.
By taking part in the project, Maesteg School pupils have had the chance to develop their ability to use these skills in a variety of contexts. There have been opportunities for them to read a range of texts, write in a variety of styles, learn new vocabulary, practise presentation skills and learn how to evaluate their own work, as well as the work of others.
The students have also developed their ability to write for different purposes and audiences, discovering how language choice and presentation can help make a story captivating and informative.
We want to congratulate all of the pupils involved for a thoroughly engaging news report, well done!
