The Results Are In!
There is much cause for celebration for Year 13 pupils at Maesteg School this year with an impressive set of results both for individual pupils and the cohort as a whole. Pupils continue to demonstrate the school’s motto ‘motivated to strive’ not only in their achievements but also their attitude towards increasingly tough assessment expectations in a year where grading has returned to pre-pandemic levels. All pupils are now well equipped to move on to academic study, apprenticeship or the world of work and have become worthy and admirable ambassadors for the school and wider Maesteg community.
The Grades
We are pleased to announce that the number of A* and A grades have increased by over a third and half of our pupils (50%) were successful in securing 3 or more A levels at A*-C grades. 83.3% of pupils achieved 3 A*-E grades. Nearly all pupils got the grades they required for their first-choice university place.
Within this set of impressive results, there have been some exceptional individual performances:
- Emily Joyner who achieved 2 A*s, 2As and 1 B and will be studying Architecture at Cardiff University
- Zi Qing Xiao who achieved 1 A*, 1 A, 2Bs and 1 C and has secured a place for Aerospace Engineering at Swansea University.
- Cody Price who secured 2 As, 2Bs and 1 C and is now planning on studying Sport and Exercise Science at Loughborough University
- Libbie Thomas whose set of results at 2 A*s, 1A and 1B and will be studying Law at Cardiff University
Celebrating Success!
Reach for the stars!
Zi Qing Xiao, whose home language is Mandarin Chinese, is thrilled to have achieved the high standards required to pursue a degree in Aerospace Engineering and putting her visionary ideas for aircraft design into action. Zi has proven herself to be a force to be reckoned with in all aspects of her school life and we anticipate a glowing future at the cutting edge of her chosen field. Mr Melbourne, Zi’s A-Level Maths teacher, praised Zi for the way in which she constantly embraces challenging situations to support her own growth and that of those around her.
Congratulations
Mrs Angharad Norris (Sixth Form Assistant), who has supported Year 13s both academically and pastorally over the last two years, said: “I am immensely proud of them all. It has been lovely to have played a part in their day-to-day experiences in the school and hear of them shaping their futures. I know they will be successful in their next adventures”.
All members of the Maesteg School family wish each and every one of our Year 13 pupils congratulations and are thrilled to see their hard work and plans come to fruition. They have left a noteworthy legacy for the pupils who follow in their footsteps not only in terms of academic achievement but also strength of character. We look forward to hearing of their future successes not only within their local community but nationally and internationally. Well done Year 13!
