Maesteg School: A Level Results 2026

There is much to celebrate at Maesteg School this year as our Year 13 students have achieved an outstanding set of A Level results. Their success reflects not only academic achievement but also the commitment, determination and resilience they have demonstrated throughout their studies. Living up to our motto of being “motivated to strive”, students have risen to every challenge presented to them and are now ready to take the next exciting steps in their journeys.

Whether progressing to higher education, apprenticeships or employment, our students leave Maesteg School as confident, capable young people and excellent ambassadors for both the school and the wider community. Their ambition and enthusiasm for future opportunities have been inspiring, and we are immensely proud of all they have accomplished.

This year, 24% of grades awarded were A*-A grades, whilst 42% achieved A*-B grades. In addition, 43% of students secured three or more A Levels at grades A*-C. We are delighted that students have once again secured places at a wide range of prestigious universities, colleges and apprenticeship programmes across the UK.

Within this set of impressive results, there have been some exceptional individual performances:

• Kobey Cahill achieved 1 A* and 3 A grades and he will go on to study Physics at Bristol University
• Amelia Giles achieved 1 A* and 3 A grades and she will study Fashion at Coventry University
• Emily Treasure achieved 1 A*, 2 As and 1 B and will go to Bristol to study Economics and Mathematics
• Cara Smith achieved 3 A grades and 1 B and will go to Cardiff Met to study Product Design
• Evan Watson achieved 1 A* and 3 B grades and will begin his apprenticeship with MSC Cruise Line to become a Ship Captain!

Kobey Cahill, Head pupil, achieved an A* in Biology and A grades in Maths and Physics and the Welsh Baccalaureate qualification. Kobey’s work ethic has been exceptional and since the start of his A level journey his dedication to his studies has been impressive even though his reaction to his grades was, ‘how on earth did I do that?’

Mrs Sian Waters, who has supported this cohort throughout their sixth form journey, said:

“I am incredibly proud of everything this year group has achieved. Their determination, resilience and commitment to their learning have been evident throughout their time in the sixth form. Beyond their academic accomplishments, they have contributed enormously to the life of the school and have shown maturity, kindness and leadership. It has been a privilege to watch them grow into confident young adults, and I am excited to see what they go on to achieve in the future.”

Everyone at Maesteg School would like to congratulate our Year 13 students on their achievements and thank them for the positive contribution they have made to school life. Their successes are thoroughly deserved and reflect years of hard work and perseverance. We wish each of them every success in their next chapter and look forward to celebrating their future accomplishments in the years ahead.
